My husband and I are exploring our house oppotunities since we kinda have a low budget. We have found manufactured homes for about $70,000 but obviously you have to buy land and then the sewer, well, and whatnot. If the house is $70,000 and we find land for $20,000…how much more will it cost to connect water, sewer, and electricity to the house? Any estimates or have you done this?

That land needs sewer, water, electricity and the house needs a foundation, driveway These costs can add up to 50k

An older mobile home already has site work, utility and sewer hook-ups, but may need major updating. A new trailer does not need fixing, but the land needs to be purchased, site work needs to be done and utilities need to be hooked up. Really not interested in leasing the land or the mobile home. Looking to do this the most economical and cheapest way possible, money is very tight, and the mobile homes seem very affordable.

You are better off buying the location with the existing trailer on it , all other things being equal, the cost of providing those services to another site could equal the cost of a good condition newer trailer. You could either replace the trailer at a later time for not a huge amount (Double check the zoning and planning board rules on this) or you could use it as a building site for a moduler or stick built home as well.

ive heard about people going to alaska and making houses on land that is owned by the goverment with little to no trouble. my question is will a log home builder build a log cabin on land owned by the goverment

Absolutely not. Trying for "squatter's rights" on government land will get you in huge trouble when you're found out. If you want to take your chances and try living off the land, best of luck to you, but no homebuilder, log homes or otherwise, is going to get involved in your scam and risk prosecution.

Your local newspaper will usually print out the homes/land that will be auctioned off because of delinquent taxes. You can also check with your county courthouse to obtain this information as well.

I was given 1 acre of family land, I used that land as collateral to purchase the mobile home. I now have moved and I am told that since the is not my primary residence they will not refiance. The property is now an investment property. When we purchased the home, we were raped with the interesr rate of 10.25% Does anyone know of anyone who made do this

If you have a bank account at a local credit union or bank, there is a chance that they will finance you at 7% but they will only loan you 50% of the appraised value of the land and home. If that is enuf to pay off the current loan, go ahead. Call 3 local mortgage brokers who don't work for banks. They might find you a private investor at 8% fixed..
