You have got all facts wrong. wrong, you know. WRONG.

1-Most muslim women recieve only one kind of education. that is, religious education. Which is worthless since Islam doesn't allow women to be religious leader or cleric. Islam doesn't even let women got to masjid to pray. while other religions give women the freedom to do as they please. not cristianity, but hinduism, buddhism, etc.
that's how you women are opressed. And, women from other relgions do recieve both kinds of education. It is just that some such women CHOSE not to take religious education. Islam doesn't even offer this choice. Islamic education is lumped on you whether you care about allah and koran or not. that's where muslim women are oppressed.

2-Which planet are you from? Women CAN inherit property whether they are muslim or non-muslim. religion has no relaiton with her basic human rights. In fact, apart from islam, all religions have made it clear. Islam, according to you doesn't allow those muslim women to own property who don't follow allah. How wrong and prejudised. Do you need to force ppl into "submission to allah's will",as you quote it? If not, then why not give everybody equal rights. Are you afraid everybody will convert out of your religion if given a choice? Women have the right to hold property in all religions, except some sects of Islam which forbid it. And, what is this about holding joint property? My mother owns property, I own property...independently.Neither of us are muslims...How wrong your facts are. If you open a discussion, at least you should get your facts straight.

3-A muslim woman can do jobs if she maintance hijab. A non-muslim women can do a job whether she maintaines hijab or not. What does it matter what I wear? I do not want to look like a bag. I do not want to wear a black cloth in 45 degrees and have no identity. How are muslim women identified? By their male relatives. Hell, Islam forbids women to travel alone. becasue they can't be trusted. Really. I think I can be trusted, thank you very much.
And, a secular woman also CHOSES to do a job. where have you come from? are you blind that you can't see? most of my aunts don't do jobs, none of my female friend's mothers' do jobs. And, they are all non-muslim. In fact, most muslim men prohibit their wives from doing a job since that will mean getting out of their houses. and Islam strictly asks women to be away from men. That's not possible if you get out. Hence, MANY MUSLIM women AREN'T ALLOWED to do the jobs they wish(as Islam strictly asks women to follow everything their husband says- I have seen it. there was this female who told a scholar on TV that her husband wanted her to cover her face. she felt suffocated when she did that, she said(and she didn't want to do it). and the scholar says, mohammad only asked for hijab, but since your husband says, you should do it and looked at her pitifully..that's where you muslim women are opressed.) Islam gives men permission to beat their wives "if they don't do what they say"...like you are some pet that needs to be tamed. this is where muslim women are opprssed.
No husband of a "secualr" woman will have the guts to beat her. Nor to order her. Becasue he knows well that she won't tolerate it. Becasue such women can seek divorse..unlike muslim women who have to go thru a long process(with reason and wife beating, ocurbing freedom cannot be reasons as it is allowed in Islam). (and muslim men can simply say talaq talaq talaq!!!) this is where muslim women are oppressed.

4- A non-muslim woman doesn't have to share her income either. Again, which planet have you come from? Is this questuin a joke in which you are trying to make muslim women look foolish? Cause that's cheap and wrong. My mother uses all her money for herself. and so do most of the few of my aunts and cousins who have jobs. and they are all non-muslim. My father pays for my education and food, and housing, etc.
Islam talks of giving the men the responsibility BECAUSE women can't take care of themselves(it is written there, so don't question it.)
That's where it is pathetic. Non-muslim women, if they want to, can stay independent. they can take custody of children and raise them on their own if they want(while islam doesn't give them this freedom either, kids are always men's 'property'-other than in some moderate islamic sects where female children are given to mothers.) In fact, Islam keeps sons away from their mothers..in two different houses once the son attains puberty. what for? can a female not be trusted with her son? is she going to do do incest with her son now? what for? Why is segregation necessary anyway? I talk to males. they are very helpful. I know lots of men who are not my blood brothers, but I consider them my brothers anyway(Islam would forbid that too. I love them. I have known them all my life since I was 3, and being forced to stay away and not discuss studies simply becasue they are males is wrong. They care about m
References :
1) This would be true if it weren't for the fact that secular people consider religious education irrelevant as it teaches patently false ideas. However many secular women do receive formal religious and secular education as religious schools are open to anyone who can afford their prices. I went to a private Christian school from K-8th grade and received both formal religious and secular education.

2) You apparently know little about Western secular women and the laws that govern our society. If I inherit something that it is solely mine unless I choose to share it. I inherited my grandmothers home. It was in my name however I choose to share it with my fiance so it is now our home and we can build our life together here. I was not forced to do this. The decision was made based on logic and practicality. I am not obliged to share my belongings with my family however I do not see why I would not want to I mean they are my family. I love them. I provide for them and I protect them. Why on earth would I not share my car, food, home and love with them?

3) I can perform any job I wish as long as I have the proper qualifications for it. I am not forced to cover my entire body. However I am required, in most situations, to dress professionally as it is the proper thing to do. I can choose to do this though. I also am not forced to work. I do not currently work as I am working on my masters in Animal Behavior. My time is spent planning the wedding, organizing and decorating our house, cooking dinner, volunteering, studying, painting, sculpting and doing any other thing I enjoy doing. I have the option to stay at home and be solely be a wife and mother or I can choose to pursue a career. It depends on what works out best for me.

4) I do not have to share my income however it would be entirely selfish of me not to. Why on earth would I choose to marry and man and create a family and then withhold money and belongings from them? It's selfish. They are my family. I love them, therefore I share my money and belongings with them to add to their comfort and happiness.

Basically your entire argument has painted Muslim women as selfish, lazy, ill mannered buffoons which I positively know most aren't.
Are all Muslim women oppressed? Of course not! In fact my fiance and I dined with his co worker just last week. They are Muslims and married and she is quite possibly one of the happiest most loved women I know.
However nothing makes me sicker the people especially women who refuse to acknowledge the very real, very sad and very scary lives many muslim women live.
Young girls are burned with acid for attending school. Many women are raped by family members. Some are beaten and stoned. Many have their clitoris cut off(I personally like my clitoris right where it is) Some women are murdered just for being near a man who is not in her family.
All of this and so much more.
Of course much of this is not advocated in Islam but it does not stop *some* self righteous, high and mighty men from taking advantage of any given situation.
According to Islam you MAY be able to do all of those things and more but that does not always mean you will be permitted to do so when you live in an archaic society with a very corrupt and poor excuse for a government.

I have some of the most fantastic friends who are followers of Islam and they would die from shame if they read your poorly conceived question.
References :
1. I have the option of religious education but I choose not to receive it. Choosing the eduction you desire is true freedom. Being forced into religious education is oppression.

2. Clearly your superior Muslim education never included a lesson in property law. Secular women are not obliged to share property with anyone. Muslim women might "own" their property, but when they are required to be obedient to every man in their life, they are not really free to do with it as they wish.

3. Secular women are also not forced to work if they don't want to. Muslim gender segregation has made it so women can only do certain jobs, severely limiting their career choices. Secular women can do ANY job they want.

4. I don't know where you heard these things about Secular women, but no they don't have to spend their earnings on family. Besides, even if her parents make her pay part of it for rent, this is a sign of INDEPENDENCE. If they just let her keep it, she would be dependent on them, like a Muslim woman.
References :
Get off of Yahoo while you can, staying here will only corrupt your brain. Please, This answer will only be a good one and yet It will get like 7 thumbs down brother.

Definitely being a Muslim women is better than being a secular women, but the media here won't show it like that.

I mean who doesn't want to have the "freedom" of only being able to find a male partner by looking sexy and being goggled at by men of all ages.

I mean how much more respectable is that when the media only appreciates a women for her sexuality, how liberating to sell every product from Cell phones to salad all based on female sexuality.

How gratifying it most be to spend countless hours getting ready to go to a club so that horny guys can be amused by how slutty you look and contemplate which one is the easiest to get laid by.

AH! FREEDOM!!!! There are so many choices for Secular women, either use your sexuality and get men, or be yourself and not get men because you're not sexy enough or willing to put out!!!

What freedom for our children, for them to see that in order to get anywhere in life, they have to be physically attractive!!! How great for our young women to look at photoshopped magazine covers of unrealistic women with unrealistic standards of beauty.

You know, SInce secular women are so free, they get to enjoy equal wages!!!!! HOW FAIR RIGHT! women in the states are treated so fair!

You know, it's really nice to know that our women have to use their sexuality to become productive members of our society =D!!!!!!
and if you don't , you're just a trolling feminist who's "no fun"

Gotta love Americans.....like I said, leave while you can!!!! because people who never even seen a Qur'an with their own eyes, let alone have read it, are going to start telling you all the things in Islam and act like experts!!!

RUN BROTHER, I'll be right behind you!
References :

Gotta love Americans…..like I said, leave while you can!!!! because people who never even seen a Qur'an with their own eyes, let alone have read it, are going to start telling you all the things in Islam and act like experts!!!

You are wrong. A non-Muslim woman does not have to work outside the home if she doesn't want to, but sometimes needs to because her husband doesn't make enough for the life style that they want to have. A woman doesn't have to share her money with anyone unless she wants to. Where do you get the idea that she has to give to her family if she is single without children. You have mistaken ideas.

And if I were married, my husband would not boss me around. I don't like to cook, so he would do that. And women in the U.S. are equal to a man. We go where we wish, talk to who we wish. And men here are trained from childhood that women are more than sex objects. So we don't have to cover ourselves from head to toe because a man can't control himself. Here men control themselves!
References :
muslim women that dont think muslim women are oppressed, are obviously ignorant, like most other muslims. you forgot to mention that in the quran it states two women are equal to one man.
References :
ex-muslim

Where I live most people are educated in both religion and in the rational world. You beg the question that if one has both secular and religious education one is more intelligent. Are you ignoring all of the fields of study. Your statement seems to be an all or nothing fallacy. One thing we are uneducated in is learning to cook and raise children.

Hijaab seems like depression to me. It'd be easy to hide from the real world under that tarp.

Secular women can also stay at home if they have a husband or family willing to support them.

Secular women can share money if they want in a marriage. Secular women give money to their family if they want.

Thank you for showing us that being Muslim is not as bad as it appears.

I've dated Muslim men and was extremely surprised at their generosity but also I was leery of their expectations for me.
